Launched by General Motors in 1965 from its Chevrolet division, the production of Chevrolet Caprice was not discontinued until 1996. At that particular time, this car later named as Caprice Classic was the most expensive, as well as the most luxurious car. The LS trim level that had an extravagant interior done in cloth or leather, along with vinyl roofs was introduced in 1987.

This car featured a V8 engine, which was able to deliver around 425 horse power, power steering, automatic transmission system, white sidewall tires and vinyl top. These features made the Caprice the most luxurious car in the market. Other features that were also present included AM/FM stereo, rear wiper, power windows, dual airbags, cruise speed control and power seats.

The designing of the early models was similar to that of the Chevy Impala. However, in 1971, there was a complete redesigning that was carried out for this car, which aimed to transform this car into a more aerodynamic of a car. The fact that this car was able to gain the car of the Year award in 1977 and 1991, which is distributed by the Motor Trend Magazine, shows the wide popularity of the car among the general target audience.
