In several European markets the Dodge Shadow was offered by Chrysler, between April 1988 and mid-1991. The Chrysler ES was designed virtually as the same car based on the concepts of Dodge Shadow ES and without any "shadow"-badges. The engine of this model was designed with the engine as the fuel injected as 2.2L along with the optional turbocharger. It also had 3-door hatchback. More modern 2.5L unit was replaced instead of 2.2L engine in 1989. Apart from that, the design was featured in order to link the engine with a standard five-speed manual transmission. It was also available with three-speed automatic transmission as an extra-cost option to the engine. When you consider about the European sales figure of Chrysler ES, the sales were very poor and hence the production of it ended in mid-1991. After that, there was no predecessor and Chrysler Neon was introduced in 1995 with the salient features.
