The forward wheels of this auto have ventilated disks, 300 mm brakes and fixed to the underframe using suspension «MacPherson, independent, coil springs» and equipped with stabilizer bar. Rear wheels have disks, 278 mm brakes and fixed to the chassis with help of suspension type «Multilink, coil springs» and equipped stabilizer bar. Tires have the following size - 195/65R15.

In accordance with the results of Euro NCAP crash test, this model of Volvo S40 gained the higher number of stars - five, which indicates that it is a highly safe vehicle. Furthermore to dynamic safety (ABS, ESP, EBD, Brake assistant, Traction control), it is also equipped with passive systems of safety (side, head/curtain, driver, passenger airbags).
