The front wheels of this vehicle have ventilated disks, 300 mm brakes and fixed to the chassis with help of suspension «MacPherson, independent, coil springs» and equipped sway bar. Rearward wheels have disks, 278 mm brakes and fixed to the chassis through suspension «Multilink, coil springs» and equipped sway bar. Tires have the next size - 205/55R16.

In accordance with the results of Euro NCAP crash test, this model of Volvo S40 received the maximal number of stars - five, which means that it is a highly safe car. Furthermore to passive safety (head/curtain, driver, passenger, side airbags), it is also has active safety systems such as ABS, EBD, Traction control, Brake assistant, ESP.
