«S80 D3 R-Design» is a front wheel drive vehicle with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This car can be accelerated for 9.7 seconds to 100 km/h, with a max speed of 215 km/h, owing to a 5-cylinders diesel engine with a «common rail system», which generate a max power of 163 hp at 2900 rpm.

Fuel consumption is 7.1 l in the urban driving mode, on the highway 4.3 liters, and the normal fuel consumption is 5.3 liters per 100 km. Fuel tank volume is 70 liters of diesel, what lets to go nearly 1321 km unrefuelled.

The front wheels of this vehicle have ventilated disks, 300 mm brakes and attached to the body chassis with help of suspension «MacPherson, independent, coil springs» and equipped stabilizer bar. Rearward wheels have disks, 302 mm brakes and attached to the underframe using suspension «Multilink, coil springs» and equipped with stabilizer bar. Tires have the next dimensions - 225/50R17.

In accordance with the results of Euro NCAP crash test, this model of Volvo S80 got the maximal quantity of stars - 5, indicating that it is a perfect safe car. Furthermore to passive safety (head/curtain, driver, passenger, side airbags), it is also equipped with active safety such as ESP, ABS, Traction control, EBD, Brake assistant.
