From 2012 Volvo launched production of cars type V40, modification of D2 R-Design. In this car can sit 5 person total, it has the form of a hatchback with 5 doors, and length 4.4 meters, weight 1.3 tons.

«V40 D2 R-Design» have a front-wheel drive car with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 4-cylinders diesel motor with «common rail system» can generate power 115 horsepower at 3600 rmp, allowing you to accelerate the auto in 11.9 s to 100 km/h and obtain max speed of 190 km/h.

The forward wheels of this model have ventilated disks, 278 mm brakes and attached to the undercarriage with help of suspension «MacPherson, independent, coil springs» and equipped sway bar. Rear wheels have disks, 280 mm brakes and attached to the underframe through suspension type «Multilink, coil springs» and equipped with sway bar. Tires have the next size - 205/50R17.

In conformity with the information of Euro NCAP crash test, this model of Volvo V40 gained the maximal quantity of stars - 5, indicating that it is a very safe car. In addition to dynamic safety (EBD, Brake assistant, ABS, Traction control, ESP), it is also has passive systems of safety (driver, passenger, head/curtain, side airbags).
