The Chevy Corsica was introduced in 1987 by General Motors and manufactured in the states of Delaware and New Jersey. It was not sold as mainstream car when it was first introduced in the market but only given to rental agencies and larger corporations. It became the second most sold cars in the United States and was the second most produced car out of the Chevy lineup after it was sold in the mainstream market in 1988.It also became the Car of the year by Motor trend in the first year after being released. It was discontinued in 1996.

No matter in which version it came out, the Chevy Corsica had been always a four door car. It came in the sedan and the hatchback form and was available in four trim levels were based, LT, XT version and LTZ. In 1989, the hatchback version was launched but discontinued after the 1991 model. The base trim model was available during 1987 and 1990 after which only the LT and LTZ bases were available. A new XT trim was also available after 1987 but discontinued in 1989. The XT trims have a lot of features that were available newly such as leather interior and a special body package and spoiler however this trim was very rarely found. This car also made history as it had daytime running lights and was the first American car to have this feature.
