In 2001, there was a model introduced in the Fiat Stilo range with three versions including 3-door, 5-door hatch and an estate, namely as the Stilo MultiWagon. This model was treated as the successor of the Fiat Bravo/Brava range and the same engine of this car was shared with the Lancia Ypsilon and the Punto, which were coupled with the efficient 6-speed manual gearbox for the best performance. Because of the excessive weight, German-looking design and the poor fuel economy, it was criticized by the people in an enormous way. Apart from that, it was also criticized for the very slow sequential gearbox it had.

In 2001 there was a sport version of the car came out at the same time when the hatch version released, which was also treated as the Abarth version of the Stilo. This model was fitted with the Selespeed gearbox and more powerful engine that were normally criticized for the option of too slow and that too especially on this version. But, because of the wide tires the Abarth became as more excel one in the braking and handling departments as the best one. In 2006, there was an updating made with the Abarth as the base car.

There was an updated version of the 2006 Stilo in order to replace the Bravo/Brava and it was the modification of the original car, which was released in 2001. There was a change made with the front grille of the car and the air vent on the rear side was removed altogether. The design came up with the relocation of electric mirror controls and changed the fabric of the seats on the inside along with the entirely removed center arm-test. This car was treated as the disappointment model because of the leading to an early demise in 2007 as ultimate one.
