The production of the 1972 version vehicle was done in the UK and Germany and it was launched at the same time. In 1985, the production of this vehicle was discontinued in all the European countries except the UK. In the UK, the production was continued until 1994.

In 1975, the North American vehicle was released into the market, which was designed with different engine and body as derived from the European model of Ford Granada. This vehicle was treated as the one with more similarities of the Mercury Monarch because of the engineering and design similarities of this vehicle. Around the year 1983, the Ford North American line-up was dropped by the Ford Granada model and it was started to launch out with the own versions.
