There was a model designed as a front-wheel drive minivan by Ford, in order to replace the model Ford Aerostar. This car was also treated as the direct competitor to the Dodge Caravan model, namely as the Ford Windstar. The complete redesign of the previous model was released in 1998 and it was the part of the second generation model. The car now came with the essential features including the reverse sensors, side airbags and the power-sliding doors for better performance. In 2000, the facelift of this model was launched and it was replaced by the Ford Freestar model in the later year.
