Introduced for the first time in Europe and Japan in 1999 the mini SUV is a Hybrid Recreation Vehicle. The High Rider Vehicle is the full form of the HR-V and it has two engine types. The car is powered by either the 1.6 VTEC engine with the overhead cam or by a simple 1.6 overhead cam engine. The car also comes with two options for the transmissions; you can choose either a four wheel drive or a front wheel drive. Another option is the Honda CVT transmission for this car.

The 3-door version of the car was slowly taken out of the market and was replaced by the 5 door version of the car as the 3-door was taken out of production. The change came in 2001 and after this the only model available was the five door version. The car has a seating capacity of 4 people.
