There was a Hyundai Lantra introduced with the estate body option next to the sedan in and efficient way, which was also known as Sportwagon in some countries. In order to compete with the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic, the 1995 version was brought on by Hyundai as part of the first generation. Starting with the facelift on 1993, the car started to run on the engines as same as the sedan model along with the Mitsubishi 1.8 and 1.6 engine that introduced later.

In 1996, there was a Lantra model started as part of the second generation that treated as the facelifted version. It had grabbed with more popularity in Australia because of its reliable name Lantra Sportswagon. It was included with the special trim level, mag wheels, painted side mirrors, velur trim, rear number plate holder and the GLS available along with the new 2 liter engine option. It was the last changes and facelifted option made with the Lantra line before third generation of Hyundai Lantra was released out in 2001.
