There is a long history available for these Jaguar cars, which was designed along with sporting performance and elegant styling. These brand vehicles were normally synonymous with the old-world luxury upper classes of the British and it was born in the United Kingdom. Jaguar model cars have been available under the ownership of other automakers more recently. But, these cars are always tolerating with the state of unmistakable gleam related to the traditional English refinement.

Origins of this company were traced out to the Swallow Sidecar Company, which was founded in 1922 by William Walmsley and Bill Lyons. This company produced out a popular line of aluminum motorcycle sidecars in England based in Blackpool. In 1993, focus to automobile production by Swallow was started eventually and it changed its name to SS Cars Ltd., in 1933. In 1935 SS Jaguar 100 was released in the market, which was the first model to carry the name of Jaguar.

The moniker of SS Cars was switched to Jaguar, after the World War II. Because of this reason, there was no need to associate with the Nazi paramilitary organization that was bored the same initials. Mark V of 1948 was the postwar offered by it. In the same year, there was a luxury sedan model released in the name of the XK 120. It was treated as the fastest production automobile of that time and its top speed could be indicated through the name. The XK 120 model was proven as quite popular one and it helped out Jaguar to establish a strong presence in the market of the sports car.

The exporting of luxury vehicles to the United States by the Jaguar had been started in the 1950s. The Mark VII Saloon was created just for the American market and it was released in 1951, which gave a big hit along with the stateside motorists. At the Mote Carlo Rally, this car took prize in 1956. Mark VIII and Mark IX were added to the lineup of Jaguar, after the long decade. The XK model became as the XK 140 because of the increase in its performance. After that, the XK 150 model was introduced that was obviously faster. Even though it was not curvaceously alluring compared to other 120/140 models, it became as attractive one.

One of the most well-known models of Jaguar was launched in 1960s. In 1961, the E-Type model was introduced. The new sports car was delivered out the best performance and refinement through its coupe or convertible version along with an undeniably sexy package. During the 1960s, the British culture was treated as a hot commodity. It was mainly because of the success of groups including Twiggy the fashion model, the Rolling stones and the Beatles. It was also one of the facts that made positive implications for popularity of Jaguar in the U.S.

The XJ6C and XJ12C models of sedan version were introduced by Jaguar after a decade. At the time, the XJ12 was treated as the fastest production sedan compared to other models. The lovely E-Type model was replaced by the relatively bland XJ-S by the mid-1970s. In 1980, the launch of the XJ-S HE increased the performance of Jaguar and a true world supercar in the name of the XJ220.

At this time, there was a reputation for questionable reliability achieved by the Jaguar cars and the electrical problems became as the chief source in the case of angst of owner. Even though there was increased competition from adverse exchange rates and German automakers, they didn't help them. Because of the less capital and want to improve matters, the company decided to go with the partnership with another company. This decision made Jaguar go in hand off Ford in 1990.

The influence and financial support of Ford to Jaguar was evident through the launch of XK8 of Jaguar and supercharged XKR sports car. Both these models were powered by the new AJ-V8 of Jaguar and it came with powerful engine that was used in certain Land Rover vehicles. Jaguar decided to broaden its product line with more effort after a few years. Because of this reason, it introduced a car as low-priced and entry-luxury compact sedan namely as the X-Type. Since this model sold poorly unfortunately, its modest European Ford Sedan model was proven to be a one with more liability. At this time, there was also another change made with the old-school traditional styling of Jaguar. This had been done in order to compete with other competitors who moved into the new millennium along with modern designs both inside and out and cutting-edge.

Sales of this car dropped and Jaguar met with more financial problems. This really made headache for the parent company Ford. In 2008, Ford cut its losses and sold out the Jaguar along with the British premium brand Land Rover to Indian manufacturer Tata. Even though reliability of these models are still treated as big issue, new models including the XF and redesigned icons XJ and XK will provide the Jaguar with the bright future. This can be achieved through the modern designs come along with the fair share of classic Britannic charm.
