Kia Sephia was produced by the South Korean manufacturer Kia Motors between the years 1992 to 2003 as a compact car. The name was coined and it stood for "style", "elegant", "powerful", "hi-tech", "ideal" and "auto" and it was precisely that.

The first generation of this model was entirely based upon the Familia of the seventh generation. There are different engines available in these series, which included the B-series engines. The B-series engines included a 1.5 liter engine rated at 59 kilowatts, the 1.6-liter engine rated at 78 kilowatts, and the 1.8 liter engine that was rated at 91 kilowatts which was the famous Mazda engine started in the year 1994. This car came into production as a replacement for the Capital, which had lost the market share. This model was extremely successful, since in the home market only, it was able to sell more than 100,000 cars in the first year of its production.
