Using the Corsa third generation platform this new small MPV can be easily described in a single word "utility". Being labeled "Flexspace" owing to its flexible natured interior and the trunk volume which can easily be termed as generous, the Meriva can easily fit in 5 passengers and in case you have lots of baggage to hold in simply convert it. You can extend the cargo space by simply pushing the second row seats to the floor. Owing to seats flexibility, any passenger travelling in the back row is assured to have a comfortable ride irrespective of being a back seat. Meriva besides being a fuel efficient and reliable vehicle is offered with engine choices with capacity ranging from 1.3 L to 1.8 L along with a max power output reaching 125 Hp.

After undergoing the facelift of 2005 which gifted Meriva a new grille design crossed by a parallel chrome bar, a new set of round integrated fog lights, new side air intakes and a front bumper make over. Besides the outer changes, the Meriva also underwent interior changes such as new colors and trims besides becoming the proud owner of the world's smallest common rail 4 cylinder turbo diesel. The new engine replaced the 1.7 liter 75 Hp older version and the new CDTI 1.3 engine has the potential to boost the maximum speed of Meriva to 97.5 mph, developing a torque of 170 Nm. Another addition to the new version is the maintenance free Opel's Diesel particulate filter that Meriva comes equipped with. Now there is no need to soil your hands on Saturday rainy garage jobs.

The Meriva second generation was officially introduced at the Geneva Auto show in 2010. Meriva B in comparison with its ancestors featured "Flexdoors" which were rear hinged back doors and were about the most significant exterior makeover of the new version. In terms of technology, Meriva B was the first that represented the Opel/Vauxhall fitted model that came with a start-stop system which not only offered low levels of CO2 emissions but also offered better and improved fuel economy. The Meriva B production started from 2010, June while Vauxhall Meriva as known in UK was made available from 2010 April.
