Ferrari built out the model with two-seat, two-door and ground Tourer namely the Ferrari 575M Maranello. This model was an updated version of 550 Maranello that was featured with minor styling changes by Pininfarina and launched in 2002. In the first half of 2006, the 575M model was replaced by the 599 GTB model.

When you think about the updates of this model from 550, it would probably include the renewed interior. This model was also updated with the mechanically substantial improvements such as different weight distribution, bigger brake discs, refined fluid-dynamics, a larger and more powerful engine, refined aerodynamics and an adaptive suspension set-up. In the case of adaptive suspension set-up, the four independent suspensions available in the model were controlled by the gearbox, in order to minimize the pitch throughout the shift time of 200-milliseconds. It was designed with the conventional manual box and two six-speed transmissions for the first time on the Ferrari V12 engine along with the semi-automatic or electrohydraulic manual F1 gearbox of Magneti Marelli. The total engine displacement in liter was referred by the model number, while the M presented in the name was an abbreviation of modified or modificato in order to represent the design.
