No car in the A5 Coupe range is short on power. The cheapest model with a petrol engine in the range is the turbo 1.8 litre and even it offers a very punching performance, moreover you can also choose from a turbo 2.0 litre and a 3.0 litre V6 engine for far more power. The diesel entry level engine is the 2.0 litre available in a flexible 201 bhp and 242 bhp units of 3.0 litre summing up the entire line. The choice of automatic and manual transmission is offered along with the four wheel drive and the front drive option.

The A5 Coupe offers good grip and bends smartly, however certain models provide a drifting feeling on crests, dips and bumpy roads. The S Line has moved a step forward through curing the former problem it faced however in return the ride experience is rather crashy and excessively firm. No help is provided either by the three modes optional Drive Select System made to adjust the suspension.

All engines in the model are refined and smooth and the V6 diesel unit sounds increasingly similar to the petrol unit. The S5's V6 unit is also very cultured and offers a pleasant sound experience. However at motorway speeds the noise of winds can be clearly felt along with the clatters and clunks of the suspension.
